Know the additional features MKII weapons which have in GTA Online

MKII weapons are identical to standard weapons, but are only available for use in GTA Online via the Cops and Crooks update (1.15) onward, and can be used by anyone who owns them. Previously purchased standard non-MKII versions of these weapons can still be used within GTA Online, but cannot be bought from Ammu-Nation or traded with others.

New weapons released in GTA Online require some familiarization on, but they are also often most effective once mastered. However, one thing that players can expect from such new additions is firepower superiority over old weapons. While that does mean that new and old guns are going to deal out a lot of damage per shot, it also means that weapons at the lower-tiered ends of the spectrum may not be as effective anymore compared to higher-end examples. These MKII versions of each weapon are not stronger than the originals but have an additional special ability. Here is a quick guide to which characters can equip MKII weapons:

Before players can start upgrading MKII weapons, they will need to acquire a Weapon's Workshop for the base of operations. Available from rank 12 onwards, it can be added to the Mobile Operations Center, the Avenger, Terrorbyte or the submarine. Players will then have access to a catalogue of their MKII upgrades.

The MKII Weapon Workshop is required to modify certain weapons. These modifications require special workshop items as well as the GTA$ currency. Additionally, once a weapon is modified, it will become available to other players in the session
