Although Chennai's batting line-up achieved a point that was within reach, their bowlers failed to defend it, leaving them tasked with chasing down a target of 179 set by Gujarat.  Ultimately, Gujarat won with four balls to spare and five wickets in hand.

It was evident that the Chennai team lacked quality bowlers.  In his debut match, young pacer Rajvardhan struggled to make an impact on the CSK bowling attack.

However, another newcomer, the hunger striker made a promising start and managed to pick up three wickets, the most for any bowler in the Chennai team.  Meanwhile, Chennai's record in chasing big targets set by GT is worth watching.

The all-time record is in the name of Punjab Kings, whose bowlers have scored 50 or more runs in a game 33 times.  Royal Challengers Bangalore are on the second spot with 31 events.
